Hi all,
I just downloaded the latest version of your software, great! I definetly gonna go to buy it but I have a stupid issue and I cannot find a solution maybe someone can help me.
Basically I use a PsyBNC to connect to two different network, everything works fine.
I can connect and see the channels, I have a couple of BOT in this channells and every time I query this guys in the main channel I never receive an answer but I can see the reply in the main channel using the logs option.
I mean if I open the logs windows I can see the answer in the main channel ,but in the actual main windows of the channel I cannot see anything.
The only thing I'm thinking is that the BOT has a name like Ln'|Bob| and maybe it could be a problem? with other ircclient like Textual everything works fine but honestly I would like to use your software, can anyone help me?

thank you

Ah you just need to update the paths in extscript to the following:

set p to p & "Linkinus 2/Scripts/External/"
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to ":"
set test to searchReplace((alias (a as string)) & "Linkinus 2:Scripts:External:", "::Linkinus", "")

Just add the 2 two times.

Then every "echo" is shown in the chat.

I don't know more, but I'm trying to figure it out.

You can find everything here: http://conceited.net/wiki/creating_scripts#using_php

Hi,

my preffered Language is PHP, so I'm happy that I can use it for scripting ;)
But, I didn't find any manual for PHP and Linkinus. Is there a manual or can anyone help me? ;)
Of course I can code in PHP, I just need a little tutorial or example to write code that's executed by Linkinus.

Thanks for your help.

I'm looking for message autobreaking script or plug-in. If someone knows one like that/can write it from scratches it would be much appreciated. (It can work either by breaking the messages automatically upon sending into several shorter ones, when the limit [410 words] has been broken or upon a command like /break)

Is there a way to configure linkinus to split longer pastes into several messages?

For example I'm pasting a quote from a news item into a channel. The quote is 500 characters long. It will be truncated to around 400 characters for others. It would be great if linkinus automatically split it to two messages when I send text that's over the limit, and even better if it wouldn't do it mid-word.

Is it possible currently? If not - is there a chance you'll add such a feature?

Thanks

I've needed to star a line from a previous conversation that can only be found in my logs, however I'm not able to.

The ability to export a range would be great. Two arrows - one at the top of the log and the other at the bottom - can be moved into the log to mark the start and end, then export that range.

Log separated by days. It's not really an issue, but it'd cut down on entries in my log. Instead of a new log for every time I connect, how about just consolidating each day into it's own file. A new entry would be made at midnight and the logging would continue from the same session in that new log.

I just started using Snippets and so far so good. However I have yet to find out how to do something and was hoping someone could help. I use a terminal emulator at work to access an IBM AS400 and have set up the "return" key as "field exit" and the "Control" key as "Enter". I have a lot of repetitive entry items I would like to make Snippets for but don't see any way to record the return key or the control key as a keystroke.

I'm sure I'm just missing something easy, but if someone could enlighten me, that would be great.

Code looks good, and it seems as though it made the last update! Nice work.

One thing I was thinking of was instead of using characters x through x, it might be better to do something like

set Applescript's text item delimiters to ":"
set theurl to item 4 of theurl
set Applescript's text item delimiters to ""

...or something like that. If the track link breaks in the future for whatever reason, this would be a better way to go in order to get it safely into a variable without guessing how many characters they are going to use.

Just switched to Linkinus. I love everything about it so far but with one drawback. I'd like to request a fallback encoding support. I chat mostly in Thai server. Even though most people already switched to UTF-8. A lot of people still stick with plain old ISO 8859-11 (Thai). Even server messages are still in those format. I'd like to be able to read those message as well.

I'd be good if Linkinus allow me to specify fallback encoding so that if it fail to decode a message in UTF-8 (or others primary encoding), the client will try to decode the message with fallback encoding.

Btw, sorry about my bad English. As you know, it's not my primary language.

I was just about to post my script, and saw this post.
I used your "realURL" tip in mine as well, but I added a lot more functions to the code.
Hope you like. :)

There's a lot of information in there that is repeated, so I'll have to edit the code a bit to make it not repeat so much. But it's too late and I'm tired.

Hey guys,

I'm a proud user of Linkinus but there is one thing:

if somebody change his nickname (just changing upper or lower case letters) you cannot see the changes in the Userlist.

Example: from "Nick" to "nick" -> userlist shows still "Nick".

Is this a preference thing or a bug?

Thank you!

Not that anyone cares, but I found a big issue in the code. Spotify has two ways of posting URLs. If it isn't the weird hash, then they actually store the full URL in a variable, so I needed to account for that.

I also have a message if you are not running Spotify.

Open applescript editor (spotlight or utilities folder). Dump my code into a new doc and save-as a script with extension. Enable the Library folder on your lion mac, go to application support --> linkinus --> script. drop the file in there. Restart linkinus. Now you have a Spotify script.

Developers: my code is awesome. Feel free to use it in your program FREE OF CHARGE.

Spotify got released for the Mac, and I made a script to announce what you are listening to in irc, and it posts a link to allow others to listen in as well. Just open up AppleScript and save this as a script (not an app), with the extension shown. The command is '/spotify'

It uses some of the code from iTunes, because they are so similar, but I did the URL business by myself.

Is it possible that Linkinus can have a built-in bouncer? So one doesn't need to use ZNC. I would be able use Linkinus to connect to my IRC Servers as usual, but then connect to Linkinus from the outside and see the last fifty lines or something.

As such, it'd be awesome if Linkinus would support push notifications to iOS IRC Apps. Colloquy can only be active for ten minutes (as part of some restriction imposed by Apple) before it gets shut down by iOS. However, apps can receive push notifications at any time. So, if I get highlighted in a channel and I'm away it'd be awesome if Linkinus could push that highlight to connected clients.

I was under the impression Colloquy for OS X does just that it's iOS Counterpart but I haven't had much success setting up the bouncer inside Colloquy.

I no longer use Colloquy for OS X but still use it for iOS, if Linkinus for OS X & iOS somehow work together in the future, I'd love to get Linkinus on my iOS Devices.

Hello.

I'm trying to create a plug-in that'll handle playback of backlog from a bouncer in a more graceful manner, and to do that, it would be necessary to alter the timestamp of the message received before it getting printed.

My Obj-C is pretty weak, so I wanted to ask before trying to code something; in the infoDict in plug-ins, is the value from the LKRaw key modifiable, and does it include the timestamp?

Of course, it would be even better if this kind of integration with IRC bouncers could be made in the core, so the iOS versions were able to use it too, but that seems to be a rather big feature request :)

I'm desperately trying to reformat and (possibly more importantly) filter out certain service notices based on wildcards in the text, or even a regex. I'm an IRC Operator on a large IRC network and need to be able to prevent a lot of the global and server notices from showing up. Is there anything like this that somebody's written as a script or a plugin? I've looked at writing a plugin, but I can't even figure out where to begin with it.

Linkinus is easily the best OSX client I've used (and I'm pretty sure I've tried nearly all of them) but my inability to set up filtering is a HUGE deterrant.

Thanks for the report. It seems 1.4.1 only fixes Blowfish for armv6 devices. We have just submitted 1.4.2 to Apple today, which should also fix Blowfish (setting keys, getting keys, deleting keys, and key exchange) for armv7 devices.

So from 1.4.2 on, all iOS devices should be covered. Please let us know if this isn't the case when it comes out!

Installed 1.4.1 for iphone but blowfish still doesnt work, any chance to fix this?
Please is pretty important for a lot of people and it shouldnt be a big deal to make it work.

Linkinus accept the command /setkey but then when i try the /key command it says that there is no key and it does not encrypt/decrypt the messages.

Chris,

We couldn't replicate the issue but we're probably too late since it's dated last week. Please let us know if it shows up again (preferably via Twitter or email so we can be more responsive).

8man,

We are currently phasing out support for the forums and increasing our support on Twitter and in-app reports (Help > Report) - apologies for the delays here.

A Rubbernet license allows you to monitor as many Macs as you want in your household (that is you can install the background daemon on as many Macs as you like). The UI app is the one that's limited to three Macs - most people will only need to monitor their network from one Mac though.

Couldn't agree with you more scowl. The IRC room is pointless, a response is rare. It seems forum posts take forever for a response if at all. Support emails take over a week for a response. I realize Conceited isn't a large software company. But considering the price of their products, the support is god awful and if it were my business, I would be embarassed. After purchasing Linkinus for both Mac, iPhone and iPad, and experiencing problems and lack of support it will be very difficult for me to ever give any more of my money to Conceited Software.

I dunno. I fell in love with Linkinus after I moved to OS X. It caused me to purchase Linkinus for iOS, and I loved it then. However, the lack of any type of feedback from the developers is astounding. Bugs that have been in the app since the very first release are still there. They have lost my business.
