It would be really handy to mark a specific channel as "watched", and display all traffic from that channel only via Growl notifications. Ideally this would be part of the core rather than a plugin, but I'd be happy to be able to do it any way.

Co-founder & DeveloperOne way you can do this in the next update is checking "Notify me of new public messages" in the Alerts preference pane, and then enabling Growl alerts for that channel only.
